Come back in Sorrento!

Sorrento is also the protagonist of a famous song in all over the world, the poignant "Torn'a Surriento", played by artists of the likes of Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti and Enrico Caruso.
The song was written by Giambattista and Ernesto De Curtis in 1894. At the origin it was a love song for a foreign woman, although the legend says that the song was written in 1902 during the visit of the national chairman Zanardelli, who tired of the journey which ended in Basilicata, stopped in Sorrento, in the Grand Hotel Tramontano.
The hotel's owner, Gugliermo Tramontano, taking advantage of the illustrious visit, required to the distinguished visitor to provide the city with a post office.
To ensure that the prime minister did not forget his promise, he commissioned a song whose verses, of course, contained references, not so implicit, to the post office. Two years after the two composers changed the verses at the request of the publisher Bideri, and the song acquired its present appearance.
The song is a hymn to the sea, to fragrant gardens, and to the unforgettable beauty of Sorrento. If you decide to stay in Sorrento, choose a sorrento b & b, such as the Relais Francesca, lovely bed & breakfasts in the heart of the Sorrento peninsula.
